The wifi does not allow you to get on any websites which are for studying, so when I only have work which I need the internet for I can’t do it until I get home, which is not ideal. The wifi also doesn’t really work in cloisters

Access to websites which I need to go on to do research or any assignments I’ve been set and working wifi in the cloisters.

Hi Gareth, We have 4 wireless access points setup within cloisters themselves as well as one either end (one in Karenann’s office and one in Jackie’s office), so 6 in total. If any particular room is having an issue we are happy to investigate. In terms of not having access to websites etc, this will be the same issue as always, they will not have setup their smoothwall correctly. the certificate needs installing on student devices for them to be able to access most sites. it does state this on the login page but many do not read it. If any students are having issues accessing sites through the wireless they are more than welcome to pop into IT Support at anytime and we can sort it for them, will only take a few mins and then they are sorted on that device forever. If they are completely correctly setup and are getting a “access to this site is blocked” and not a “certificate invalid” page then they are welcome to email support@denstonecollege.net with the site address and why they need it and we can have a look and allow it if appropriate.
