Do you have any worries or concerns about being new to Denstone?

Not making friends.  No one knew anyone in their year group who have not made friends yet.

Sometimes we find out about sport timings very late – KAP to go through SOCS again this week in assembly however GAJ explained that sometimes fixtures are confirmed late.  GAJ has spoken to GG about this concern and he will do his best to update systems once he has the information.

Getting HW done and then being put into AD – GAJ explained what he tells staff and that it is extremely rare for a First Former to be put into AD – GAJ explained that we know they are busy and they need to tell their tutor if they have not managed a piece of work – extensions will always be given – KAP to mention this in assembly again on Friday.

Getting lost and then being in trouble for being late – GAJ assured them that this would not be the case whilst they are finding their feet – KAP will go through this in her assembly as well.

Pupils would like the water cooler back in the Sports Hall – GAJ to speak with Maria Walker about this.

Have you made any new friends yet?

Why is the school shaped like a H – no one knew the answer but we discussed that the quad used to be the front of the school – also KAP explained that the two best rooms were the Chapel and the Dining Hall – this was because Nathaniel Woodard wanted then for food for the mind and food for thought!

AOB:

Pupils really liked the day meeting everyone in the summer term.  Lots of positive feedback and it led to them being less anxious over the holiday.

The first Sunday of term was good but very tiring. Lots of nervous energy.
